Trauma

Trauma can feel like a weight that stays with you, even if you try to push it down or move on. It could be something from your past—like abuse, loss, or an accident—that continues to impact your thoughts, emotions, and even your physical well-being in ways you don’t always understand. Or it might be more subtle, a series of events or experiences that, over time, erode your sense of safety or self-worth. Trauma doesn’t always look the same for everyone, but its effects can be profound, often making it feel like you’re stuck, unable to move forward, or disconnected from yourself or others. It’s the kind of pain that can be hard to put into words, but you know it’s there, affecting the way you see the world and how you relate to people.

If this sounds familiar, therapy can be a powerful way to begin healing. I will create a safe, nonjudgmental space where you don’t have to hide your pain or pretend to be okay. It’s okay to let down your guard and explore the parts of yourself that have been shaped by trauma, even if it feels uncomfortable or overwhelming. I want to help you understand that your responses—whether it’s anxiety, anger, numbness, or avoidance—are normal reactions to abnormal experiences. Together, we can begin to make sense of what happened and how it still shows up in your life, without feeling rushed or pressured to “just move on.”

Therapy also helps you reconnect with your sense of control, which trauma often takes away. You might feel like your past experiences still have a grip on you, dictating how you react to situations or how you see yourself. In our sessions together, we can work through those memories and emotions in a way that allows you to reclaim your power. Trauma doesn’t have to define you, and through tools like grounding techniques, mindfulness, and trauma-focused therapies, you can start to reframe your experiences. Therapy can help you build emotional resilience, so you feel stronger, more at peace, and better equipped to face life’s challenges. It’s a journey of self-discovery and healing—one that allows you to not just survive, but thrive, even after what you’ve been through.
